Section 45-2-239 Purchasing procedures using credit or debit card. (a) For purposes
of this section, the following words have the following meanings: (1) CREDIT CARD.
A line of credit issued by a domestic lender or credit card bank. (2) DEBIT CARD. A card issued
by a bank in relation to a checking or savings account held by the Baldwin County Sheriff's
Office. (b) To provide for convenience in making purchases of tangible personal property or
services approved by the sheriff, the Sheriff of Baldwin County may establish procedures to
make certain purchases through use of a credit or debit card issued to the Office of the Baldwin
County Sheriff. (c) The sheriff may promulgate written policy and procedures governing the
utilization of credit or debit cards which, at a minimum, shall include all of the following:
(1) A monetary limit on the amount of any individual purchase which may be made with a credit
or debit card. (2) A monetary limit on the total monthly amount that may be purchased...

Section 45-27-11 Salaries of certain officers. (a) Commencing on July 1, 2000, the Tax
Assessor, Tax Collector, and Sheriff of Escambia County shall be entitled to receive a salary
of sixty thousand dollars ($60,000) per annum. This salary shall be payable in equal monthly
installments from the general fund of the county and shall be in lieu of any other compensation
or expense allowance heretofore provided by law. (b) Beginning with the expiration of the
current term of the incumbent judge of probate, the annual salary for the judge of probate
shall be sixty thousand dollars ($60,000) per annum adjusted for any cost-of-living raise

Section 45-9-80 Circuit judges; expense allowance. (a) Each of the circuit judges of
the Fifth Judicial Circuit of this state (as such circuit is now or hereafter constituted)
shall be paid a local expense allowance, in addition to all compensation and expenses paid
by the state, from the general funds of the counties composing such circuit, in the amount
of ten thousand dollars ($10,000) per annum, which shall be paid in equal monthly installments.
The proportion of the total annual local expense allowance hereby authorized for each such
circuit judge, to be paid by each county in such circuit, shall be determined by multiplying
ten thousand dollars ($10,000) times the quotient derived by dividing the total number of

Section 45-39-232 Personnel; uniforms; vacation and sick leave. (a)(1) In lieu of the
deputies and assistants heretofore authorized by law the Sheriff of Lauderdale County shall
appoint: a. One chief deputy, and not less than eight nor more than 13 deputies in addition

Section 28-3-190 Levy of tax; collection; disposition of proceeds by localities; enforcement
and administration; penalties; exclusive nature of tax. (a) Levy. In addition to the excise
tax levied by Article 5A of Chapter 3 of this title and the licenses provided for by Chapter
3A of this title and by Section 28-3-194, and any acts amendatory thereof, supplementary

a privilege or excise tax on every person licensed under the provisions of Chapter 3A who

Section 45-45-235 Participation in program. (a) Any sheriff or any person who has served
as Sheriff of Madison County who meets either of the following qualifications may elect to
participate in the supernumerary sheriff's program: (1) A person who has had 12 years of service
as a law enforcement officer, four of which have been as a sheriff, and who has become physically
unable to carry out his or her duties on a full-time basis, proof of such disability being

Section 45-45-235.02 Service and contributions. Any sheriff, serving on January 17,
1995, of Madison County who elects to participate in the supernumerary sheriff's program shall
receive service for supernumerary status for any time served as sheriff after January 17,
1995. Any sheriff, in order to receive service credit for prior service as a sheriff or law
enforcement officer, shall pay into the Madison County General Fund an amount equal to the
total contribution he or she would have made as a sheriff for a period not to exceed five

(a) Any individual employed by the office of the Sheriff of Madison County as a detention
officer who has served as a Madison County detention officer for a minimum of 10 years, who
retires under the Retirement Systems of Alabama in good standing, and who is at least 62 years
of age may receive from the sheriff, without cost, a commemorative badge designed by the office
