Section 45-20-110 Compensation. In Covington County, the county commission is authorized, in its discretion, to pay in addition to any and all other compensation, salary, and expense allowance, to each member of the board of registrars an expense allowance of twenty dollars ($20) per day. The amount paid under this section shall be paid out of the county general fund and shall be paid only when the members of the board actually attend meetings of the board. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the county commission may, from time to time and upon unanimous adoption of a resolution, increase the amount of the expense allowance provided for in this section. (a) It has come to the attention of the Legislature that the present compensation of the circuit judges and District Attorney for the Twenty-eighth Judicial Circuit is somewhat below the average of that being paid to circuit judges and district attorneys in other judicial circuits in this state which have considerably lighter caseloads than the Twenty-eighth Judicial Circuit.
