Section 32-7-6 Security required; suspensions; applicability. (a) If 20 days after the
receipt of a report of a motor vehicle accident within this state which has resulted in bodily
injury or death, or damage to the property of any one person in excess of five hundred dollars
($500), the director does not have on file evidence satisfactory that the person who would
otherwise be required to file security under subsection (b) of this section has been
released from liability, or has been finally adjudicated not to be liable, or has executed
a duly acknowledged written agreement or conditional release providing for the payment of
an agreed amount in installments with respect to all claims for injuries or damages resulting
from the accident, which agreement or conditional release may include reasonable interest

Section 45-43-240.24 Payment of tax required for issuance of license. To prevent motor
vehicles from escaping taxation and to provide for a more efficient procedure for the assessment
and collection of taxes due, the tax assessor shall not issue any license to operate a motor
vehicle on the public highways of this state, nor shall any transfer of a motor vehicle be
made by the tax assessor until the tax assessor is provided satisfactory evidence that the
ad valorem tax on the vehicle for the preceding year has been paid. No motor vehicle which
is owned by a resident of the county or by a business located in the county, or which is otherwise
located in the county for licensing purposes, may be operated on the public highways of Alabama
unless the motor vehicle has been returned to the tax assessor for ad valorem tax purposes.

Section 32-6-610 Issuance of distinctive plates; fees; duration; design. (a) Notwithstanding
Sections 32-6-64, 32-6-67, and 32-6-68, upon application to the judge of probate, license
commissioner, or other issuing official, compliance with motor vehicle registration and licensing
laws, payment of regular fees required by law for license tags or plates for private passenger

(a) The owner of any vehicle designated as a 1976 year model vehicle or earlier qualified
to receive a vintage vehicle license plate, upon application to the county license plate issuing
