Section 45-8-22 Special licenses; additional taxes; maintenance of records. (a) It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation, other than the state Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, to sell at retail in Calhoun County any spirituous or vinous liquors without first obtaining a special license from the judge of probate that shall be in addition to all other licenses required by law. The amount of the special license shall be determined by the county commission and shall be levied in the same manner as other county licenses are levied. Licenses required by this subsection shall expire on September 30th following the date of purchase. All proceeds from sales of the special licenses shall be placed in the general fund of the county. Section 45-15-82.30 Renewal of business license by mail. The judge of probate may mail an application for renewal of business licenses to whom such license has been previously issued, such renewal forms required to be returned prior to the expiration date of the license. Such renewal forms may be in postcard form and with sufficient information thereon to adequately identify and process such renewal. The signature of the licensee thereon and proper remittance shall constitute sufficient authority for the judge of probate to issue such license and return to the licensee by mail. (a) No qualified organization shall be permitted to operate a bingo game unless the county governing body, or the governing bodies of the respective cities and towns, within their respective jurisdictions, issues a permit to the organization authorizing it to do so.
