Section 45-43-230.01 Ratification and confirmation of certain prior compensation. In Lowndes
County, any cost-of-living increases, merit raises, one-time pay increases, or any other increases
in compensation granted or paid to the sheriff prior to February 28, 2018, are ratified and
confirmed without regard as to whether the compensation was correctly calculated or paid.
These payments shall continue to be paid to the sheriff as an expense allowance until the
end of the current term of office of the sheriff. Effective beginning the next term of office,
the expense allowance shall be null and void and shall be converted to salary. The compensation
and expense allowance provided by this section shall be in addition to any compensation or

Section 45-35-70 Compensation of commission chair; sheriff, and district commissioners. (a)(1)
Beginning on June 1, 2007, the compensation of the Chair of the Houston County Commission
shall be adjusted so that the monthly compensation paid to the holders of the offices shall
be 85 percent of the monthly compensation which was being paid to the Houston County Judge

Section 11-2A-2 Annual compensation of certain local officials. Effective October 1, 2000,
the annual compensation which a county shall pay to a county commissioner, a judge of probate,

Commencing on October 1, 1997, the Judge of Probate, Sheriff, and the Revenue Commissioner
