Section 45-42-82.47 Fees. (a) An offender may be assessed a nonrefundable application fee when the offender is approved for the pretrial diversion program. The amount of the assessment for participation in the program shall be in addition to any court costs or fees and assessments for the crime victim's compensation fund, Department of Forensic Sciences assessments, drug, alcohol, or anger management treatment required by law, and any costs of supervision, treatment, and restitution for which the offender may be responsible. A schedule of payments for any of these fees may be established by the district attorney. (b) The amount of the application fee shall be established by the district attorney. Section 45-25-81 Judicial Administration Fund. (a) This section shall be known and cited as the DeKalb County Preservation of Justice Act. (b) The Legislature finds and declares the following: (1) The financial restraints exiting in the State General Fund budget have resulted in a shortfall to the Unified Judicial System that has caused the layoff of many judicial employees. In DeKalb County, the circuit clerk's office has lost three employees. Two employees in the circuit judge's office and one in the district judge's office scheduled for layoff have been temporarily retained with alternate funding other than funds appropriated to the Unified Judicial System; however, this alternate funding cannot be relied upon in the future. (a) The Sheriff of Lauderdale County, except for warrants for arrest, may contract with or enter into contract or agreement with a private, public, or governmental entity for the purpose of service of process.
