Section 45-40-231 Clerk. The Sheriff of Lawrence County is hereby authorized to employ a clerk to perform the clerical duties of the sheriff's office. Such clerk shall receive a monthly salary of not less then four hundred seventy-five dollars ($475) nor more than eight hundred dollars ($800), the exact amount to be determined by the County Commission of Lawrence County, to be paid from the public highway and traffic fund of the county treasury or such other funds of the county as may be available for such purposes. Section 45-47-230 Expense allowances. (a) The County Commission of Marion County is authorized and directed to pay the chief deputy sheriff, each deputy sheriff, and the sheriff's clerk an additional expense allowance of one hundred dollars ($100) per month payable from the general fund of the county. The expense allowance shall be in addition to all compensation or allowances heretofore payable to each such officer.
