Section 40-21-102 Levy of tax; sourcing of total sales price for telegraph or telephone services. (a) There is hereby levied, in addition to all other taxes of every kind now imposed by law, and shall be collected as herein provided, an excise tax on the storage, use, or other consumption of electricity, domestic water, and natural gas in the State of Alabama. The amount of the tax shall be determined by the application of rates against the sales price of such services in the State of Alabama. (a) Any other law to the contrary notwithstanding, the amount of sales tax levied and imposed in Lawrence County upon every person, firm, or corporation engaged or continuing within the county in the business of selling at retail any automotive vehicle or truck is reduced by one half of one percent of the gross proceeds of sale of the item. Section 40-29A-3 Tax amnesty program. (a) The department shall develop and implement a tax amnesty program in accordance with the provisions of this chapter. The commissioner may provide by rule as necessary for the administration and implementation of the program. The commissioner shall publicize the program in order to maximize the public awareness of and participation in the program.
