Section 45-35-245 Levy, collection, and enforcement; disposition of funds. (a)(1) The Houston County Commission is hereby authorized to impose upon every person, firm, or corporation who sells, stores, delivers, uses, or otherwise consumes tobacco or certain tobacco products in Houston County a county privilege, license, or tax in the following amounts: a. Five cents ($.05) for each package of cigarettes, made of tobacco or any substitute therefor. b. Two cents ($.02) for each cigar of any description made of tobacco or any substitute therefor. c. (a)(1) The Court of County Commissioners, Board of Revenue, or like governing body of Mobile County is hereby authorized to levy and collect, in addition to all other taxes authorized by law, a special annual ad valorem tax of one mill on each dollar's worth of taxable real and personal property in Mobile County for the administration, operation, and maintenance of mosquito, rodent, and other vector control activities to be carried out by the Mobile County Board of Health. Section 45-23-244.05 Disposition of funds. (a) The proceeds from the tax hereby authorized, less the actual cost of collection not to exceed five per centum shall be paid by the State Department of Revenue to the Dale County Commission, on a monthly basis. Five percent of the revenue shall be paid into the county general fund. The remaining funds shall be placed by the Dale County Commission into a special account to be used exclusively for fire protection purposes in Dale County.
