Section 45-28-230.01 Sheriff. (a) Upon the expiration of the present term of office, the Sheriff of Etowah County shall receive a total salary of fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) per year. The salary herein provided shall constitute total compensation payable to the sheriff, in lieu of all fees, compensation, allowance, percentages, charges, and cost, except as otherwise provided by law. The salary herein provided shall be payable in equal monthly installments out of the county treasury. (b)(1) Beginning with the expiration of the term of the incumbent sheriff, the annual salary for the sheriff shall be increased by ten thousand dollars ($10,000) per annum plus any existing expense allowance which shall be payable in equal monthly installments as salary from the general fund of the county, and at that time any expense allowance previously provided by law shall be repealed.
