Section 34-22-104 Evaluation; hearing. (a) If the board has reason to believe that an optometrist is impaired, the board may cause an evaluation of the optometrist to be conducted for the purpose of determining if there is an impairment, and may suspend or restrict the license of any optometrist who declines to submit to and cooperate with such evaluation. (b) If the board finds, after evaluation and a due process hearing held under rules of procedure to be established by the board, that a licensee is impaired, the board may take action as allowed by this article. (a) Except as otherwise provided in this chapter, a home medical equipment services provider shall be licensed annually by the board before the provider may engage in the provision of home medical equipment services. In Alabama, when a single business entity provides home medical equipment services from more than one location within the state, each such location shall be licensed. Every person licensed to practice medicine or osteopathy in the State of Alabama shall, on or before December 31 of each succeeding year, apply to the commission for renewal of a certificate of registration which shall be effective during the next calendar year.
