Section 45-39-101.01 Term of office; assumption of duties. At the general election held in Lauderdale County wherein the Lauderdale County Superintendent of Education shall be elected, he or she shall assume office on the first Monday in January immediately following the election and shall hold office for a term of four years and until his or her successor is elected and qualified, unless sooner removed for good cause, and each four years thereafter, the Lauderdale County Superintendent of Education shall be elected by the qualified electors of the county residing outside of the corporate limits of the City of Florence, at the regular election, and nomination for this office may be made in primary elections as other county officers. The County Commission of Chambers County may levy, in addition to all other taxes presently levied, an additional sales and use tax not to exceed the highest municipal rates collected in the county.
