Section 11-44D-5 Council-manager form of government. Section 45-17A-50.06 Vacancies; appointments; eligibility lists. (a) All covered vacancies, except for heads of departments, shall be filled by the civil service board. The mayor shall notify the board when a vacancy exists. (b) The board shall make and keep sufficient lists of all persons eligible and available for appointment as it determines necessary. (a) The notice shall require the owner to abate the nuisance within the time stated in the notice or to request a hearing before the administrative officer designated by the mayor or council to determine whether there has been a violation. (a) The provisions of this chapter shall apply to city boards of education unless otherwise provided by local law pursuant to Amendment 659 to the Constitution of Alabama of 1901, or any other provision of the Constitution of Alabama of 1901.
