Section 11-43B-6 Holding of other public office during term as council member; holding of compensated
appointive office by former council member or mayor. Except where clearly authorized by law,
no council member shall hold any other public office or be employed by the city during the
term for which the member was elected to the council. No former council member or mayor shall

Section 11-43C-21 Powers of council; dealings with officers and employees in administrative
service. All legislative powers of the city, including all powers vested in it by this chapter,
by the laws, general and local, of the state, and by the Code of Alabama 1975, as amended,

Section 11-43C-38 Divisions of city government; executive directors of divisions; city attorney;
outside counsel. (a) There are hereby created three divisions of city government: Public works,
