Section 45-37A-52.129 Adoption of general fund budget. (a) Not later than the 20th day of June of the current fiscal year, the council by a majority vote shall adopt the general fund budget, and such ordinances providing for additional revenue as may be necessary to put the budget in balance. If for any reason the council fails to adopt the general fund budget on or before such day, the general fund budget of the current fiscal year shall be the general fund budget for the ensuing year, until such time as a newly revised budget shall be adopted by the council, and, until such time, shall have full force and effect to the same extent as if the same had been adopted by the council, notwithstanding any thing to the contrary in this part. Section 11-43B-10 Budget, appropriations, and expenditures. The mayor shall annually prepare and submit a proposed budget to the council. After public hearing the council shall adopt an ordinance providing the municipal budget.
