Section 45-31-120 Definitions. The following words, terms, and phrases, wherever used herein, shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them in this section, and shall include the singular as well as the plural: (1) ALLOCATION. The assignment of positions to a class on the basis of the nature, difficulty and responsibility, or work of the positions. (2) APPOINTING AUTHORITY. The officials or board designated by resolution of the governing body as being the official or board having authority to fill vacancies in a specified class, or the governing body itself in the event that the governing body has made no such designation in respect to a class, or having made such designation, has thereafter repealed such resolution. Section 45-37-245.01 Levy of tax for promotion of Jefferson County as convention, sporting, and visitors' destination. (a) This section shall apply to Jefferson County. (b) In addition to all other taxes imposed by law, there is hereby levied a privilege or license tax, in the amount hereinafter prescribed against every person, organization, or other entity engaging in the county in the business of renting or furnishing any room or rooms, lodging, or accommodations, in any hotel, motel, inn, tourist court, or any other place in which rooms, lodgings, or accommodations are regularly furnished for a consideration. Section 45-49A-63.42 Restoration of retired member or other former member to service. (a) If a member entitled to a benefit under Section 45-49A-63.60, Section 45-49A-63.61, or subsection (a) of Section 45-49A-63.62 of the plan is restored to service as a uniformed officer, any benefit he or she may be receiving under Subpart 4 shall cease and any election of an optional benefit in effect shall be void.
