Section 45-30A-50.03 Organization of board. The personnel program established by this part
shall be administered by the board. The board shall consist of five members who are residents
of the city and who shall be appointed by the governing body. No member of the board shall
be employed by or be an official of the city, nor hold any elective public office. The composition
of the board shall be designated as Place No. 1, Place No. 2, Place No. 3, Place No. 4, and
Place No. 5. The person appointed as a member of the board in Place No. 1 shall serve a term

Section 45-37A-52.94 Vacancy. Whenever any vacancy in the office of mayor shall occur by reason
of death, resignation, removal, or any other cause, the president of the council shall assume
the duties of the office of mayor effective on the date such vacancy occurs and shall serve
as acting mayor until a new mayor is elected and qualified as hereinafter provided. The acting
mayor shall receive no compensation, expenses, or allowances as a member of the city council
while acting as mayor, but shall receive the same rate of pay and allowances provided for

Section 11-43-87 Filling of vacancies for mayor, president of council, etc., in Class 3 municipalities.
(a) Unless otherwise provided by local law, in the event of the absence or disability of the
