Section 45-25-83.02 Indexing system; special indexing fee. (a) This section shall only apply
in DeKalb County. The purpose of this section is to facilitate the use of public records in
property transactions in DeKalb County by providing for the installation of an improved system
of indexing of instruments and documents affecting the title to real and personal property
that are recorded in the office of judge of probate and for the indexing of other instruments,

Section 45-37-84.43 Indexing and filing fee. (a) Effective June 1, 2012, a special indexing
and filing fee of eleven dollars ($11) shall be paid to and collected by the judge of probate
with respect to each real property instrument or personal property instrument and for the
recording of other instruments and documents in the probate office at the discretion of the
judge of probate. On and after June 1, 2012, no document or instrument shall be received for
record in the office of the judge of probate unless the special indexing and filing fee of

and retain all or parts of the records of the probate court for archival and access purposes
utilizing optical disks, magnetic tapes, solid state memory devices, or other computerized
or electronic methods for records indexing, storage, and retrieval, or any combination thereof.
The use of microfilm or other microform medium to retain and archive probate court records
may be discontinued and replaced with digitized or scanned images of the records previously

Section 45-49-85 Indexing system. (a) The following words, phrases, and terms including the
plural of any thereof, whenever used in this section, shall have the following respective
meanings: (1) CODE. The Code of Alabama, 1975, as amended. (2) COMPUTERIZED METHODS OF INDEXING.
