Section 31-9-18 Governor, etc., may accept services, etc., from federal government, private
persons, etc. (a) Whenever the federal government or any agency or officer thereof shall offer
to the state, or through the state to any political subdivision thereof, services, equipment,
supplies, materials, or funds by way of gift, grant, or loan for purposes of emergency management,
the state, acting through the Governor, or such political subdivision acting through its governing
body may accept such offer, and upon such acceptance the Governor of the state or governing
body of such political subdivision may authorize any officer of the state or of the political
subdivision, as the case may be, to receive such services, equipment, supplies, materials,

Section 45-37-243.02 Levy of tax. (a) As used in this section, the following terms have the
meanings here given them: (1) COUNTY. Any county now or hereafter subject to this subpart.
(2) COUNTY GOVERNING BODY. The county board of revenue, the county commission, or other like
body of the county. (3) DIRECTOR OF COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF REVENUE. The director of the county

Section 45-42-170.20 Solid waste landfill location and operation. (a) In addition to any other
provision of law or any rule or regulation by the state or federal government or local government
in Limestone County, and specifically Chapter 27, Title 22, as amended, relating to the regulation,
operation, or location of any privately-owned or controlled regional landfill for solid waste,
the Limestone County Commission shall provide for a referendum on the question of the location,
acceptance, or operation of such privately owned or controlled regional landfill for solid
waste after the public hearing thereon. The referendum shall be held within 20 days but not
less than 10 days after such public hearing. Such referendum shall be held pursuant to the
general laws of the state calling for local elections except where there is a direct conflict

section shall apply to any county having a population of 600,000 or more, according to the
1970 or any succeeding federal decennial census. (2) As herein used, these terms have the
