Section 17-5-2 Definitions. (a) For purposes of this chapter, the following terms shall have the following meanings: (1) CANDIDATE. An individual who has done any of the following: a. Taken the action necessary under the laws of the state to qualify himself or herself for nomination or for election to any state office or local office or in the case of an independent seeking ballot access, on the date when he or she files a petition with the judge of probate in the case of county offices, with the appropriate qualifying municipal official in the case of municipal offices, or the Secretary of State in all other cases. b. Section 32-5A-191 (Effective until July 1, 2023) Driving while under influence of alcohol, controlled substances, etc. (a) A person shall not drive or be in actual physical control of any vehicle while: (1) There is 0.08 percent or more by weight of alcohol in his or her blood; (2) Under the influence of alcohol; (3) Under the influence of a controlled substance to a degree which renders him or her incapable of safely driving; (4) Under the combined influence of alcohol and a controlled substance to a degree which renders him or her incapable of safely driving; or (5) Under the influence of any substance which impairs the mental or physical faculties of such person to a degree which renders him or her incapable of safely driving. Section 39-2-12 Partial and final payments of contractors by awarding authorities. (a) As used in this section the following words shall have the meanings ascribed to them as follows: (1) CONTRACTOR. Section 45-28-200.01 Real estate business license fee. (a) Any law to the contrary notwithstanding, effective January 1 following June 2, 1999, an annual business license fee of one hundred fifty dollars ($150) is imposed on all corporations, firms, brokers, agents, and other persons or entities engaged in Etowah County in the business of buying, selling, managing, leasing, or renting of real estate on commission in Etowah County. The license fee shall be paid annually, at the same time as the license fee imposed under Section 40-12-149 is paid and shall be remitted to the License Commissioner of Etowah County on forms developed by the commissioner.
