Section 45-2-244.186 Delinquent taxes. Any person who fails to pay the tax herein levied within the time required by this subpart shall pay, in addition to the tax, a penalty of 10 percent of the amount of tax due, together with interest thereon at the rate of one percent per month or fraction thereof, from the date at which the tax herein levied became delinquent, that is, due and payable, such penalty and interest to be assessed and collected as part of the tax. (a) In DeKalb County, in addition to all other taxes imposed by law, there is levied a privilege or license tax in the amount herein prescribed against every person within the county engaging in the business of renting or furnishing a room or rooms, lodging or accommodations, to a transient in a hotel, motel, inn, condominium, house, tourist court, or another place in which rooms, lodgings, or accommodations are regularly furnished to transients for a consideration.
