Section 45-37A-52.228 Survivor's benefits. (a) Effective July 1, 2002, in the event
of the death of a retiree or participant who, on the date of his or her death was eligible
for voluntary retirement under Section 45-37A-51.220, there may be payable a monthly
survivor's benefit equal to 60 percent of the monthly retirement benefit which the retiree
was receiving or was entitled to receive prior to his or her death or which the participant
would have been entitled to receive had he or she retired under Section 45-37A-51.220
on the day preceding his or her death; notwithstanding anything to the contrary, the survivor's
benefit may be increased pursuant to Section 45-37A-51.242. In the event any survivor
is being paid an amount in excess of 60 percent of the retiree's monthly benefit on May 1,

Section 12-18-153 (Effective November 8, 2016, subject to contingencies) Transfer of
membership service and accumulated contributions. (a) Any active and contributing member of
the Judges' and Clerks' Plan who, not more than one year prior to becoming a member of the
plan was a member of the Employees' Retirement System of Alabama or the Teachers' Retirement
System of Alabama, may elect to transfer his or her membership service and accumulated contributions
in the Employees' Retirement System or the Teachers' Retirement System to the Judges' and

Section 12-23A-2 Definitions. As used in this chapter, the following words shall have

Section 16-33C-25 Administration of programs. (a) In acquiring, investing, reinvesting,
exchanging, retaining, selling, and managing property for the benefit of the ABLE Program

Section 15-22-37 Rulemaking authority. (a) The Board of Pardons and Paroles may adopt
rules, not inconsistent with the provisions of this article, touching upon all matters dealt

Section 16-33C-10 ACES Program generally. (a) The ACES Program is established as one
college savings alternative under the plan whereby contributors open ACES savings accounts
according to savings agreements for the payment of qualified higher education costs for a
designated beneficiary at eligible educational institutions, terms as defined in Section
529 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended, or other applicable federal law. The
ACES Program includes the ACES Trust Fund, the ACES Administrative Fund, and the ACES Opportunity
Enhancement Fund created pursuant to this chapter. The ACES Program may be marketed under
a different name than ACES. (b) The ACES Trust Fund is hereby created and shall be comprised
