Section 45-29-71.10 County supervisor. (a) The county commission may, by designating one of its employees or, in its discretion, employ as new personnel, a county supervisor. The county supervisor shall serve at the pleasure of the county commission and his or her compensation shall be fixed by the county commission. It shall be the duty of the county supervisor of Fayette County to do all of the following: (1) To supervise and direct all personnel as are necessary to properly maintain and construct the public roads, highways, bridges, and county shop of Fayette County, and he or she shall have authority to prescribe their duties subject to the policies which are in effect or established by the county commission. (2) To maintain the necessary accounting funds and records to reflect the cost of the county highway system. (3) To build or construct new roads, or change old roads. Section 45-37A-51.07 Retirement allowance and survivor's allowance. (a)(1) The words, terms, and phrases of this section shall have the meaning ascribed to them by Act 929, unless it appears from the context that a different meaning is intended. Section 45-8-11.04 Cost-of-living expense allowances of certain officials. (a) From May 1, 2002, until September 30, 2002, the Sheriff, License Commissioner, Tax Assessor, and Tax Collector of Calhoun County shall be entitled to receive a cost-of-living expense allowance in the amount of three percent of their annual salary for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2002, to be paid in equal monthly installments from the general fund of the county for the remaining months of the fiscal year. To increase public confidence in the fairness of the state tax system, the state shall provide an independent agency with tax expertise to resolve disputes between the Department of Revenue and taxpayers, prior to requiring the payment of the amounts in issue or the posting of a bond, but after the taxpayer has had a full opportunity to attempt settlement with the Department of Revenue based, among other things, on the hazards of litigation.
