Section 45-36-71 Terms of office. Notwithstanding Act 65, 1950 Fifth Special Session (Acts 1950-1951 Special and Regular Sessions, p. 126), as amended, the terms of members of the Jackson County Commission shall be staggered as follows: Effective for the general election in 2012, two members of the county commission shall be elected for a term of four years and two members of the county commission and the chair shall be elected for a term of six years. (a) In Dale County, effective beginning with the general election in November 2012 and every four years thereafter, the Chair of the Dale County Commission shall be elected from the county at large.
