(a) Notwithstanding any provisions of Section 36-27-6 the Official Court Reporter of the Thirty-fifth Judicial Circuit, composed of the counties of Conecuh and Monroe, may participate in any retirement system now in effect, or which may be established in the future. (a) There is created the Houston County Work Release and Pretrial Release Commission, hereinafter called the commission.
