Section 45-48-231.21 Records of abandoned and stolen property; storage; perishable property. The Sheriff of Marshall County shall keep and maintain a permanent record of all abandoned and stolen personal property recovered by the sheriff's department which describes the property, provides the date of recovery, the serial or other identifying number, and the place of recovery of the property. The records shall be open to public inspection at reasonable times. All abandoned or stolen property recovered by the sheriff's department shall be stored in a suitable place to protect the property from deterioration. After reasonable attempts have been made to locate and identify the owner, perishable property may be sold at once without notice. In the discretion of the authority, any issue of bonds may be secured by a trust agreement or indenture made by the authority with a corporate trustee, which may be any trust company or bank within or without the state having the powers of a trust company. An owner's lien as provided for a claim which has become due may be satisfied as follows: (1) No enforcement action shall be taken by the owner until the occupant has been in default continuously for a period of 30 days.
