Section 16-25-19 Administration. (a) The general administration and responsibility for the proper operation of the retirement system and for making effective the provisions of this chapter are hereby vested in a board of trustees which shall be known as the Board of Control and shall be organized immediately after a majority of the trustees provided for in this section shall have qualified and taken the oath of office. (b) The board shall consist of 15 trustees as follows: (1) The State Superintendent of Education, ex officio. (2) The State Treasurer, ex officio. (3) The state Director of Finance, ex officio. (4) Twelve elected members of the retirement system. (a) The governing body of Alabama State Bar shall be the Board of Commissioners composed of at least one member from each judicial circuit; provided that, for this purpose, that part of the Tenth Judicial Circuit, known as the "Bessemer Cut-off" electoral district, for electing its circuit judge shall be considered and construed as a separate judicial circuit. (a) There is hereby created a State Ethics Commission composed of five members, each of whom shall be a fair, equitable citizen of this state and of high moral character and ability. (a) In order to provide funds for the benefit of the public schools in Marshall County, the Marshall County Commission is hereby authorized to levy and to provide for the assessment and collection of any sales and use taxes generally paralleling the state sales and use taxes in Marshall County or in any portion thereof as hereinafter provided, which tax or taxes shall be in addition to any and all other county taxes heretofore or hereafter authorized by law in Marshall County. Every person elected to the office of commissioner, on or before the first Monday of October next succeeding his or her election, shall qualify by making oath that he or she is eligible for the office and will execute the duties of same according to his or her best knowledge and ability.
