Unless a contrary intent appears from the context, as used herein, the phrase county governing body means the court of county commissioners, board of revenue, or other like governing body of any such county; the word election means any general, special, or primary election held in the county, including a district, municipal, county, state, or federal election; and the term voting center means any place in the county which the county governing body designates as a place where a voting machine or voting machines will be maintained or operated at elections. Section 11-46-24 Designating and equipping voting places; election officials; canvass returns. (a) The municipal governing body may, when it orders an election, designate at least one place of voting in each ward and if the ward has been divided into voting districts then at least one place of voting in each district or the municipal governing body may establish and designate one central place (location) within the municipality as the place of voting for all wards.
