Section 41-23-83 Terms; vacancies; compensation; expenses. (a) Each member of the board shall be selected for a five-year term, the term to begin on the date of appointment of each member. Of the initial appointees, however, the terms of membership shall be as follows: (1) Four members shall be appointed to serve for two years. (2) Three members shall be appointed to serve for three years. (3) Three members shall be appointed to serve for four years. (4) Three members shall be appointed to serve for five years. (b) The members of the board shall continue to serve after the expiration of their terms until their successors have been appointed. Any member may be reappointed to serve on the board; however, no member shall serve for more than a total of 10 consecutive years on the board from the date of initial appointment. There is established a Workers' Compensation Medical Services Board composed of five physicians licensed to practice medicine in the State of Alabama who shall be appointed by the Secretary of the Department of Labor. Section 45-30-234 Work release program. (a) This section shall apply to Franklin County. (b)(1) BOARD. The Franklin County Work Release Board, which shall be composed of the following members: The judge of probate of the county, the sheriff of the county, and the chief deputy of the Franklin County Sheriff's Department. (2) INMATE. Any person, male or female, convicted of a crime and sentenced to the county jail. (c) The employer of an inmate involved in work release shall pay the inmate's wages directly to the board. The board may adopt regulations concerning the disbursement of any earnings of the inmates involved in the work release program.
