The tax levied by this part shall be collected by the State Department of Revenue, the county, or by contract to a business that collects sales tax at the same time and in the same manner as state sales and use taxes are collected. On or prior to the date the tax is due, each person subject to the tax shall file with the department a report in the form prescribed by the department. The report shall set forth, with respect to all sales and business transactions that are required to be used as a measure of the tax levied, a correct statement of the gross proceeds of all the sales and gross receipts of all business transactions. The report shall also include items of information pertinent to the tax as the department may require. Section 45-21-140 Sales and use tax authorized; use of funds. (a) This section shall apply only in Crenshaw County. (b) For purposes of this section, the following term shall have the following meaning: ELIGIBLE FIRE DEPARTMENTS and ELIGIBLE EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES. (a) The State Department of Revenue shall charge Crenshaw County for collecting the special county tax levied under this part an amount or percentage of total collections as may be agreed upon by the Commissioner of Revenue and the Crenshaw County Commission, but the charge shall not, in any event, exceed 10 percent of the total amount of the special county tax collected in county under this part. The county commission shall enforce this part and may examine the books, reports, and accounts of every distributor, retail dealer, or storer of gasoline or motor fuel on which the tax has been imposed.
