Section 45-38-141 Definitions. When used in this part, the following words and phrases shall
have the following meanings, respectively, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise:
(1) AUTHORITY. The Lamar County Water Coordinating and Fire Prevention Authority, a public
corporation organized pursuant to this part. (2) BOARD. The Board of Directors of the Lamar
County Water Coordinating and Fire Prevention Authority. (3) BONDS. Bonds, notes, and certificates

Section 11-3-11 Powers and duties generally. (a) The county commission shall have authority:
(1) To direct, control, and maintain the property of the county as it may deem expedient according
to law, and in this direction and control it has the sole power to locate the courts in the
rooms of the courthouse and to designate the rooms to be occupied by the officers entitled
to rooms therein, including the circuit judge if resident in the county, and to change the

Section 11-43-185 Agreements for furnishing by State Personnel Department of services and facilities
for administration of merit systems for law enforcement officers of municipalities - Classification
of municipal law enforcement officers and applicability of state Merit System rules and regulations.

Section 37-15-10.1 Underground Damage Prevention Authority. (a) The Underground Damage Prevention
Authority is created for the purpose of enforcing this chapter and for reviewing penalty provisions
and the adequacy of the enforcement process. It is the intent of the Legislature that the
authority and its enforcement activities not be funded by appropriations from the state budget.
(b) The authority shall utilize the services of the Alabama Public Service Commission to provide
administrative support for the authority, subject to the concurrence by the authority board.
The Public Service Commission shall charge the expenses associated with the administrative
duties of the authority back to the authority, subject to the concurrence of the authority

Section 37-14-30 Declaration of findings and policy; relationship to 1984 act. The Legislature
of the State of Alabama has investigated the economic, financial and environmental impact
associated with the potential for duplication of electric distribution facilities used for
the furnishing of retail electric service. It has been determined that with respect to retail
electric sales, the benefit normally associated with competition between two or more entities
for customers is outweighed by the tremendous cost burden which must be borne by such customers
