Section 16-17-15 Freedom of authority from state supervision and control. This chapter is intended
to aid the state in the execution of its duties by providing appropriate and independent instrumentalities
of the state with full and adequate powers to fulfill their functions. Except as in this chapter

of any authority created or operated in Mobile County pursuant to Sections 11-88-1 to 11-88-21,
inclusive, which operates a public water system, a public sewer system, or a fire protection

Section 45-47-250 Definitions. When used in this article, the following words and phrases shall
have the following meanings, respectively, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise:
(1) AUTHORITY. The Marion County Public Water Authority, a public corporation organized pursuant
