Section 11-50-469 Powers and duties of board generally. The board shall have complete control
of the municipal gas distribution system of such municipality and shall have authority to
employ, upon terms to be fixed by the board, but in no event for a term exceeding one year,
and to discharge, with or without cause, managers, cashiers, clerks, stenographers, attorneys,
plumbers, gas fitters, repairmen, laborers, and such other employees as are necessary for

Section 37-15-10.1 Underground Damage Prevention Authority. (a) The Underground Damage Prevention
Authority is created for the purpose of enforcing this chapter and for reviewing penalty provisions
and the adequacy of the enforcement process. It is the intent of the Legislature that the
authority and its enforcement activities not be funded by appropriations from the state budget.
(b) The authority shall utilize the services of the Alabama Public Service Commission to provide
administrative support for the authority, subject to the concurrence by the authority board.

Section 37-4-1 Definitions. Unless otherwise specified, when used in this article, these terms
shall have the following meanings: (1) COMMISSION. The Alabama Public Service Commission.
