Section 45-20A-10.04 Board of education - Powers and duties. (a) Upon the assumption of office of the initially elected and city council-appointed members of the board of education in October 2002, the Andalusia City Board of Education as provided in this part shall be constituted and the terms, powers, duties, responsibilities, and emoluments of office of the prior members of the board of education shall end. (b)(l) Upon assumption of office of the initial elected and board-appointed members of the board of education, these members shall have the powers, authority, duties, and responsibilities as are otherwise provided by law for members of city boards of education as set forth in Chapter 11, commencing with Section 16-11-1, of Title 16. Section 16-11-3 Election; terms of office; vacancies. Annually at the regular meetings of the city council or commission in April the council or commission shall elect a member or members of the board of education to succeed those whose term or terms of office expire that year. Members of the city board of education shall assume office at the next regular meeting of the city board of education in June following their appointment.
