Section 45-28-243 Privilege or license tax. (a) In Etowah County, there is hereby levied and
imposed, in addition to all other taxes of every kind now imposed by law, a privilege or license
tax upon every person, firm, or corporation engaging in the business of renting or furnishing
any room or rooms, lodging, or accommodations to transients in any hotel, motel, inn, tourist
camp, tourist cabin, or any other place in which rooms, lodgings, or accommodations are regularly
furnished to transients for a consideration, in an amount of two percent of the charge for
such room, rooms, lodgings, or accommodations, including the charge for use or rental of personal
property and services furnished in such room. There is exempted from the tax levied under
this section any taxes on rentals or services under Division 1, commencing with Section 40-23-1,
of Article 1, Chapter 23, Title 40. The tax shall not apply to rooms, lodgings, or accommodations

Section 45-28-244.01 Levy and collection of tax; disposition of funds; Etowah County Development
Committee. (a) In Etowah County, there is levied a one cent ($0.01) county sales and use tax
in all areas of the county, which may become effective no sooner than January 1, 1996. (b)
The tax shall parallel the state sales and use taxes including exemptions therefrom and enforcement
proceedings therefor. The Etowah County Commission may administer and collect this tax, or
contract with a private entity or the State Department of Revenue to administer and collect
this tax, and provide for enforcement penalties by resolution. The county commission, the
State Department of Revenue, or a private entity collecting the tax may retain an amount or
percentage of the total proceeds collected in such an amount as may be agreed upon by the

County, in addition to any and all court costs, fees, and charges now or hereafter authorized,
there shall be assessed by the clerk of the circuit court a one hundred dollar ($100) charge
on the service of all failure to appear warrants executed by the deputies or Sheriff of Coosa
County. (b) The service fee imposed in this section shall be assessed against a defendant
upon conviction. The clerk of the court shall enter the amount of the fee provided in this
section on the docket sheet and shall collect the fee in the same manner and same time as
other court costs. The service fee may be waived by the court for good cause shown. (c) The
revenues derived from this fee shall be distributed as follows: (1) Twenty-five dollars ($25)

Section 45-26-81.01 Base annual salary; salary increases. (a) Effective on July 1, 2020, the
base annual salary of the Judge of Probate of Elmore County shall be ninety-eight thousand
dollars ($98,000) per year, payable in equal monthly installments from the general fund of
the county. The salary provided by this section shall supersede any salary, expense allowance,

Section 45-37-230.01 Subsistence allowance for certain law enforcement officers. (a) Any nonelected
law enforcement officer, including the sheriff's executive assistant, who is employed by the
Jefferson County Sheriff's Department on a full-time basis, shall receive a subsistence allowance
of eight dollars for each working day of a pay period while engaged in the performance of
his or her duties as a law enforcement officer. This allowance shall be in addition to all

positions of legislative coordinators in Macon and Bullock Counties. Two persons shall serve
as coordinators for Macon County and one person shall serve as coordinator for Bullock County.

Section 11-3-4.1 Compensation of commissioners. (a) For the purposes of this section, Section
11-3-4, and Chapter 2A of this title, the following terms shall have the following meanings:
