The sheriff or the employee aggrieved by a decision of the board in the original hearing shall be entitled to rehearing of the issue before the board as provided herein. The aggrieved party shall make written request upon the board within five days of an adverse decision of the original hearing and the board, within 10 days of receipt of a request for rehearing, shall hold the rehearing in substantially the same manner as the original hearing to review its earlier decision. If, on rehearing, either party is aggrieved by the decision of the board, the party may appeal the decision to the Circuit Court of Etowah County within 30 days from the release of the decision by the board. During this period, the proceeds will be paid to the owner upon demand, less any cost of recovery, storage, maintenance, and sale.
