Section 11-92A-1 Definitions. When used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the following meanings, respectively, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise: (1) ARTICLES. The articles of incorporation or articles of reincorporation of an authority. (2) AUTHORITY. A public corporation incorporated and reincorporated pursuant to the provisions of this chapter. (3) AUTHORIZED OPERATIONAL AREA. The county or counties in which the authority has been or is proposed to be authorized to operate, as designated in its articles of incorporation in accordance with the provisions of this chapter. If an authority does not designate an authorized operational area, then such authority's authorized operational area shall be deemed for all purposes to be solely the county of incorporation of the authority. Section 11-3A-2 Powers for public welfare, health, and safety; authorization; scope. (a) Except where otherwise specifically prohibited or provided for either heretofore or hereafter by general law or the constitution of this state and subject to the procedures and limitations set out in this chapter, the county commission of a county may provide for its property and affairs; and for the public welfare, health, and safety of the citizens throughout the unincorporated areas of the county by exercising certain powers for the protection of the county and public property under its control. Section 41-10-36 Definitions. Unless the context requires otherwise, the terms defined in this section shall have the following meanings for purposes of this division: (1) AFFECTED BOND. Section 22-27-48.1 Approval process by local governing body for siting of new solid waste management facility. (a) This section applies to the siting of any new solid waste management facility, as defined in Section 22-27-2.
