Section 8-19-3 Definitions. As used in this chapter, the following words and phrases shall
have the meanings hereinafter ascribed to them: (1) ATTORNEY GENERAL. The Attorney General
of the State of Alabama or his duly designated representatives. (2) CONSUMER. Any natural
person who buys goods or services for personal, family or household use. (3) GOODS. Includes
but is not limited to any property, tangible or intangible, real, personal, or any combination
thereof, and any franchise, license, distributorship, or other similar right, privilege, or
interest. (4) KNOW, KNOWING, KNOWINGLY, KNOWLEDGE, and KNEW. Either actual awareness or such
awareness as a reasonable person should have considering all the surrounding circumstances.
(5) PERSON. Includes but is not limited to natural persons, corporations, trusts, partnerships,
incorporated or unincorporated associations and any other legal entity. (6) SALE, BUYING,

Section 8-6-140 Definitions. For the purposes of this article, the following words have the
following meanings unless the context otherwise requires: (1) BENEFICIARY FORM. A registration
of a security which indicates the present owner of the security and the intention of the owner

Section 30-4-17 Revocation of certain transferable interests in property upon divorce or annulment.
(a) In this section, the following terms have the following meanings: (1) DISPOSITION OR APPOINTMENT
OF PROPERTY. Includes a transfer of an item of property or any other benefit to a beneficiary
designated in a governing instrument. (2) DIVORCE or ANNULMENT. Any divorce or annulment,
or any dissolution or declaration of invalidity of a marriage, that would exclude the spouse
as a surviving spouse within the meaning of Section 43-8-252. A decree of separation that
does not terminate the status of husband and wife is not a divorce for purposes of this section.
(3) DIVORCED INDIVIDUAL. An individual whose marriage has been terminated by divorce or annulment.
(4) GOVERNING INSTRUMENT. An instrument executed by the divorced individual before the divorce
or annulment of his or her marriage to his or her former spouse. (5) RELATIVE OF THE DIVORCED

Section 35-4-435 Notice requirements for existing private transfer fee obligations. (a) The
payee of a private transfer fee obligation imposed prior to May 25, 2011, shall record, prior
