Section 40-23-68 Seller to file returns. (a) Except as otherwise provided in subsection (f), the tax imposed by this article shall be due and payable to the department monthly on or before the 20th day of the month next succeeding each month during which the storage, use, or other consumption of tangible personal property became taxable hereunder. Section 45-37-243.40 Levy of tax; payment; violations. (a) This section shall only apply to Jefferson County. (b) As used in this section, state sales tax means the tax imposed by the state sales and use tax statutes, including, but not limited to, Sections 40-23-1, 40-23-2, 40-23-3, and 40-23-4. (a)(1) An individual taxpayer who files a state income tax return and is not claimed as a dependent of another taxpayer, a taxpayer subject to the corporate income tax levied by Chapter 18 of Title 40, an Alabama S corporation as defined in Section 40-18-160, or a Subchapter K entity as defined in Section 40-18-1 may claim a credit for a contribution made to a scholarship granting organization. (a) All municipalities shall have the following powers: (1) To license any exhibition, trade, business, vocation, occupation, or profession not prohibited by the Constitution or laws of the state which may be engaged in or carried on in the municipality.
