Section 45-29-110 Compensation. (a) The County Commission of Fayette County shall provide such additional amount of daily compensation as is necessary to grant each election clerk, inspector, and returning officer of elections a total compensation of twenty-five dollars ($25), and shall increase the mileage allowance of the returning officer to fifteen cents ($.15) a mile in going to the courthouse and returning to the place of holding the election. Such compensation and mileage shall be paid out of any funds in the county treasury available for such purposes. (b)(1) In Fayette County, all inspectors, assistant inspectors, and technical assistants appointed to conduct elections at the various polling places are hereby entitled to an additional per diem allowance in such amount as will, together with any amount paid by the state, make a total paid to such officials thirty-five dollars ($35) for each day they work at the polls.
