Section 40-2B-2 Alabama Tax Tribunal. (a) Statement of Purpose. To increase public confidence in the fairness of the state tax system, the state shall provide an independent agency with tax expertise to resolve disputes between the Department of Revenue and taxpayers, prior to requiring the payment of the amounts in issue or the posting of a bond, but after the taxpayer has had a full opportunity to attempt settlement with the Department of Revenue based, among other things, on the hazards of litigation. Section 45-8-140 Fire hydrants. (a) This section shall apply only to Calhoun County, Alabama. (b) It has been shown to be in the public interest that an adequate supply of water be available in order to fight fires. Such a supply of water is not available in certain unincorporated areas of Calhoun County due to the lack of fire hydrants. This section is to authorize Calhoun County, in furtherance of the public health, safety, and general welfare of the citizens of Calhoun County to engage in arranging for the purchase, installation, inspection, and maintenance of fire hydrants where feasible and practical on and along all water mains of appropriate diameter in unincorporated areas of Calhoun County.
