Section 45-41-240.07 One-stop motor vehicle registration, etc., system; mail-order procedures; licensing, assessment, and collection of taxes. (a) Upon the commencement of the office of county revenue commissioner, there shall be a one-stop motor vehicle registration, assessment, and licensing system under the jurisdiction, direction, and supervision of the county revenue commissioner. To increase public confidence in the fairness of the state tax system, the state shall provide an independent agency with tax expertise to resolve disputes between the Department of Revenue and taxpayers, prior to requiring the payment of the amounts in issue or the posting of a bond, but after the taxpayer has had a full opportunity to attempt settlement with the Department of Revenue based, among other things, on the hazards of litigation. (a)(1) The State Board of Medical Examiners on its own motion may investigate any evidence which appears to show that a physician or osteopath holding a certificate of qualification to practice medicine or osteopathy in the State of Alabama is or may be guilty of any of the acts, offenses, or conditions set out in Section 34-24-360.
