Section 36-18-9 Costs of services provided by department. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, in any county in which the Department of Forensic Sciences performs the duties of the county coroner or county medical examiner pursuant to local law, the county commission shall pay to the department each year the cost of the services provided by the department, as determined by the department. Payments from the county shall be made by the tenth day of each month to the department and shall be deposited into the Alabama Forensic Services Trust Fund. In the event a county does not pay the amounts required by this section, the department shall not be required to perform the duties or responsibilities of the coroner or medical examiner for that county.
