(a) The medical examiner or forensic science pathologist in Mobile County is hereby authorized to provide a cornea to any patient in need of corneal tissue for a transplant upon request of a certified eye bank, certified by the Eye Bank Association of America under all of the following conditions: (1) If a decedent who may provide a suitable cornea for the transplant is under the jurisdiction of the medical examiner or forensic science pathologist and an autopsy will be required in accordance with state law. (2) If no objection by the next of kin is known by the medical examiner or forensic science pathologist.
