Section 45-37-260 County planning commission. In Jefferson County, any county planning commission established under Act No. 344, H. 775, 1947 Regular Session (General Acts of 1947, p. 217) or Act No. 581, H. 1012, 1947 Regular Session (General Acts of 1947, p. 404) shall consist of 15 members; three designated and 12 appointed members. Within 60 days after October 2, 1986, the Jefferson County Commission shall divide the county into six districts with each district containing an approximately equal number of persons residing in unincorporated territory. Such division shall be based upon the most recent federal decennial census and redrawn after each new federal decennial census. After October 2, 1986, newly appointed or reappointed members of such commissions shall be appointed so that the county commission shall appoint two members from each district with one such member representing the unincorporated territory of the district so that at least 50 percent of the total 12 appointed...
