Section 45-31-71 Commission districts. The present members of the Geneva County Commission shall divide the county into commission districts for purposes of electing future members to the county commission. Such districts shall be divided and defined, as nearly as may be, on a population basis, and in contiguous area and as provided by law, so that each district shall have approximately the same population as every other district. The judge of probate shall continue to serve as the ex-officio chair of the commission and shall vote only in cases of tie votes on matters before the commission. Each candidate for district commissioner shall be a resident and qualified elector of the district which he or she represents and upon election shall continue to reside therein throughout their respective terms.
