Section 45-12-240.40 Motor vehicle licensing. (a) The Revenue Commissioner of Choctaw County shall perform all duties relative to the assessment and collection of taxes on motor vehicles, motor vehicle titles, and nonmotorized vehicles in Choctaw County which the judge of probate is required under the law to perform. The judge of probate shall be relieved of all duties and responsibilities relative to the assessment and collection of taxes on motor vehicles, motor vehicle titles, and nonmotorized vehicles, and the revenue commissioner shall have all the duties and responsibilities relative to the assessment and collection of taxes and issuance of motor vehicle licenses and titles for motorized and non-motorized vehicles. For purposes of this section the term "motor vehicle" shall mean the same as defined in Article 5, Chapter 12, Title 40. Section 32-6-18 Penalties - Violations in general; disposition of funds. (a) Any person of whom a driver's license is required, who drives a motor vehicle on a public highway in this state without first having complied with this article or the rules and regulations promulgated hereunder shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and, upon conviction shall be punished by a fine of not less than ten dollars ($10) nor more than one hundred dollars ($100), to be fixed in the discretion of the judge trying the case. (a) The director may open to any person for inspection, copying, and mechanical reproduction, during the department's regular business hours, criminal history information on any individual, if the individual has given written permission for the release of the information to the requester and if the opening of the information is not forbidden by order of any court of competent jurisdiction or by federal law. Any person requesting criminal history information from the department must present to the department, along with the request, a copy of the required written permission.
