Section 11-29-6 Distribution of fund capital; purposes for which counties may use funds. The fund capital shall be distributed to the several counties of the state and shall be paid on April 15 of the fiscal year for which each annual appropriation is made as follows: Part of the funds to be paid to counties that is equal to 45.45 percent of the total of such portion shall be allocated equally among the 67 counties of the state; and the entire residue of the portion to be paid to counties, being an amount equal to 54.55 percent of such portion, shall be allocated among the 67 counties of the state on the basis of the ratio of the population of each county to the total population of the state according to the then next preceding federal decennial census or, prior to the effective date of the 1990 decennial census, any special federal census held in any county subsequent to the effective date of the 1980 federal decennial census and prior to the adoption hereof.
