Section 45-40-231 Clerk. The Sheriff of Lawrence County is hereby authorized to employ a clerk to perform the clerical duties of the sheriff's office. Such clerk shall receive a monthly salary of not less then four hundred seventy-five dollars ($475) nor more than eight hundred dollars ($800), the exact amount to be determined by the County Commission of Lawrence County, to be paid from the public highway and traffic fund of the county treasury or such other funds of the county as may be available for such purposes.
