Section 45-39-221 Definitions. (a) The following words and phrases used in this part, and others evidently intended as the equivalent thereof, in the absence of clear implication herein otherwise, shall be given the following respective interpretations herein: (1) AUTHORIZING RESOLUTION. The resolution adopted by the governing body of the City of Florence or the county, in accordance with this part, that authorizes the organization of the tourism board. (2) BOARD. Section 45-25-243 Lodging tax levied. (a) In DeKalb County, in addition to all other taxes imposed by law, there is levied a privilege or license tax in the amount herein prescribed against every person within the county engaging in the business of renting or furnishing a room or rooms, lodging or accommodations, to a transient in a hotel, motel, inn, condominium, house, tourist court, or another place in which rooms, lodgings, or accommodations are regularly furnished to transients for a consideration. (a) This section shall apply only to Lee County in those areas outside the corporate limits of the Cities of Auburn, Opelika, and Phenix City.
